In the 90s, the X-Men were everywhere. Marvel’s merry mutants had their own cartoons, ice cream bars, actions figures and, most significantly, video games. Over the last decade or so, however, Marvel’s focus shifted away from Wolverine and company as the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy gained mainstream public success. This summer, however, the mutants are back in a big, big way. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will feature a large number of characters from the X-Men family, and to celebrate, Nintendo has released an all-new trailer focusing on them.
Going off the trailer, it would appear that Beast, Psylocke and Magneto will join the previously announced Wolverine, Deadpool, Storm and Nightcrawler as playable characters. Juggernaut and Mystique will both appear (at the very least) as boss characters. Juggernaut’s appearance is notable in that the battle with Professor Xavier’s step-brother seems to take some inspiration from the boss battle from X-Men Legends.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will release exclusively on Switch July 19.
