While the idea of a smaller, cheaper version of the Switch has been long rumored, today, Nintendo made it official. Set to debut alongside The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, the Nintendo Switch Lite will offer players an exclusively handheld experience.
For $199.99, the system offers a few trade-offs compared to the traditional Switch. First of all, the system cannot be slotted inside a dock. The Joy-Cons are also permanently affixed to this particular version of the system, and HD Rumble and the system’s motion camera are both gone. Not everything is a downgrade, however! The system will boast a battery life superior to the traditional system. It will also have its own D-pad this time!
The system will release with three color options. On November 18, the system will get its first variant in the form of a Pokémon Sword and Shield version.
Nintendo Switch Lite will be released in stores September 20. Do you plan on picking one up? Let us know in the comments below!
