Earlier today during the Nintendo Direct presentation, it was announced that Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is coming to Nintendo Switch next year. The original, Donkey Kong Country Returns, first came out for Nintendo Wii in 2010. Three years later, the 3DS version, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, came out and both have been well-received by fans since then. Soon enough, players will get another shot at the game once it releases on Nintendo Switch starting January 26, 2025.
Although it may not be a new installment, the game is a fully remastered HD version of the Wii version, and will include bonus levels from the Nintendo 3DS version, as well, which will bring a total of 80 levels to fans. Like the original version, you can play solo or with a partner in local co-op mode. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD may technically be an old entry, but at least we can experience an improved version that just might be the definitive take on this classic.
I’m a big fan of DK, so I cannot wait to see how these bonus levels are gonna be.
