While newly announced retail games made a big splash at today’s Nintendo Direct conference, they were far from the only highlight. Nintendo also had several announcements to make in regards to the 3DS eShop, including new games, and the return of some old favorites.
First up was a release date for HarmoKnight, the rhythm-based platformer from Game Freak. Gamers will be able to demo the latest offering from the creators of Pokémon on March 14, while the full title will be available two weeks later on March 28.
While fans have known about HarmoKnight for some time, Nintendo also announced three new downloadable titles on the way to the 3DS. First up is Kersploosh! which releases on March 7. In this unique puzzle game, players will have to direct a rock past obstacles as it plunges down a well.
It’s only been about a year since Dillon the armadillo’s last 3DS adventure, but fans won’t have to wait long to see him again. Dillon’s Rolling Western: The Last Ranger will release on April 11. Details remain sparse, but we do know that Dillon will have some brand new allies as he battles the evil Grocks this time around.
A new title in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series was also announced. Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move! will be the first 3D title in the Mario vs. DK series. While a release date has yet to be announced, we do know that the game will feature a much-improved level editor.
New games are always great to hear about, but the Virtual Console has made it just as exciting to hear about old titles, as well! A pair of Game Boy Color games from Natsume were announced on the way to the service this morning: Legend of the River King and Harvest Moon. No release dates have been announced for these two games.
If you haven’t had the cash to check out some of the 3DS’s bigger downloadable hits, you may be in luck. A weekly price cut has been announced for some of the service’s bigger hits. The price cuts start today and extends for six weeks, with each week featuring a different title.
