In December of last year, we updated everyone about the status of the upcoming console Intellivision Amico, which is slated to launch on October 10, 2020. Spearheaded by industry veteran Tommy Tallarico, the system is a revival of the Intellivision brand with a focus on family-centric gaming and accessibility for players of all types with its unique controllers. Now, Tallarico has revealed that GameStop has stepped up to the plate as the first brick-and-mortar US retailer to offer Amico for sale.
Happy to announce our first “in store” retail partner for the U.S.! @GameStop has over 3,000 stores & has just added former Nintendo president @Reggie Fils-Aime to their advisory board. They are currently offering 3 systems… Glacier White, Graphite Black and for the first time pic.twitter.com/UoJiSYvYAT

GameStop will be selling the console in its various stores and will also have the exclusive Galaxy Purple color available. Keep in mind that Amico is an entirely new system and not a retro console like Super NES Mini or Sega Genesis Mini. It will, however, provide reimaginings of a myriad of Intellivision properties and will also be the exclusive home to a new Earthworm Jim game. Are you intrigued by Amico? Tell us in the comments and on social media!

Wow I had never heard of this.
Just checked out Gamestop’s website: Just my prediction, but I believe this system will be dead on arrival. $300 for this is a big ask. Actually, the limited edition “Galaxy Purple” one appears to be $300 while the “non purple” ones are $250. I supposed they’re aimed at collectors? While the marketing appears to target families (“no swearing, non-violent games” etc.), I’d imagine most families would opt for a Switch Lite (and save $50 to $100 in the process).
That’s just me. I wish Mr. Tallarico the best of luck with this product.
