Intellivision is as old-school as it gets. Fans of gaming from pre-1983 (the year of the great video game industry crash) will no doubt remember playing titles like Burger Time and Pac-Man on the console. It’s been years since the last time there was an Intellivision console on the market, but that’s about to change next year with the launch of Intellivision Amico in the fall of 2020. Take a look at the latest trailer about the upcoming system:

Amico has had a fascinating journey to this point. Tommy Tallarico, of Video Games Live and Earthworm Jim fame, announced in May of 2018 that he would be spearheading a new Intellivision console focused on 2D games. Intellivision Entertainment is now under his control and producing Amico, which is said to be launching for under $200 and focused on families and young gamers. Tallarico hopes to populate the system with a library of exclusive games, including a new take on Earthworm Jim that will see the bulk of the original team reuniting for the project. Every game is expected to only have an E or E 10+ rating. Take a look at the new, exclusive version of Breakout that’s coming to the platform at launch:

In the time since Amico was announced, the console’s controllers have gotten a redesign and a number of new games have been revealed. Fans can also look forward to Skiing and four other games to be bundled with the console at launch. There’s a ton going on with Intellivision these days— those who are interested should hit up this link to see more. Along with an integrated AR app that can be utilized via smart devices, Amico is being aggressively positioned as not just a piece of legacy hardware, but an innovative new platform for gaming.
