Hands-On Preview: Sonic Pico Park (Switch 2)

During Play Days at Summer Game Fest, I, alongside Senior Editor Angela Marrujo Fornaca, got to try out SEGA’s new tongue in cheek indie game Sonic Pico Park. The game is an eight-player puzzle-platformer and a collaboration between SEGA and the fine devs at TECOPARK. Get a look at some of the gameplay in our preview video, below:

Sonic Pico Park is all about teamwork as you make your way with other players through the game’s stages. Objectives that seem simple become a whole lot more complicated when trying to complete them with up to eight other players in tow. While similar to the previous Pico Park games, the twist here comes in the form of the Sonic cast and their various abilities. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy are all playable, and figuring out the best ways to combine their skills a big part of the fun.

The minimalist stylings of the stages are charming, and while that’s part of the Pico Park aesthetic, hopefully there’s a little more variety once the final game launches. Sonic Pico Park will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch later this year. Why not let us know what you think of the game so far in the comments and on social media!
