Teased last week and made official yesterday, Game Informer is officially making a comeback. The longtime publication was unceremoniously shuttered by former parent company GameStop last August, with all of its writing removed from the GI website, to boot. Now, GI’s content has been restored and the magazine will be returning in both print and digital form. The announcement was made via Game Informer’s official X account…
Game Informer is back! The entire team is returning and we can’t wait to reconnect. Come join us to celebrate the best in games, the people who make games, and the people who play games from around the world.

… as well as the Game Informer website. Editor-in-Chief Matt Miller wrote a lengthy Letter From the Editor piece detailing the publication’s return. Here’s a bit from it:
Over the months since, two remarkable things happened. The first is that Game Informer as a brand and an outlet was purchased and given a new lease on life. The second is that the entire team that was working together at Game Informer’s closure has returned, from editorial to production and beyond. The entire team. Seriously – I’m still pinching myself.
Game Informer now operates under an entity called Game Informer Inc., and our intent is to continue to focus on highlighting the coolest games, celebrating the history and legacy of the gaming industry, and shining a spotlight on the creators and players who are charting its future. I am deeply grateful for the trust and enthusiasm from the team at Gunzilla Games; they see the same potential in Game Informer as our team does, and their encouragement to do so ethically and free of outside pressure is laudable.
Gunzilla Games is a game developer that dabbles in NFT and blockchain titles, and they’re the ones to thank for GI’s return, as detailed by Miller. While we know the physical magazine will be back (and you can sign up for details here), we don’t know exactly when that will be. However, it seems that new content is forthcoming on the GI website, at least, so if you’re itching to see what they have going on, be sure to give them a look.
Congrats to Miller and company, as during this time of profound loss in the industry, it’s very refreshing to see a comeback.
