This Friday, Pokémon trainers will find themselves one step closer to completing their Pokédex. That’s because Nintendo is holding a distribution event for the Eon Ticket, an item that allows Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire players to revisit the Southern Island to capture Latias or Latios, depending on which version of the game they own.
This is the first major distribution event for the Eon Ticket in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Previously, the download item could only be acquired through the 3DS’s StreetPass function. Players that already acquired an Eon Ticket will not be able to get a second.
Interestingly enough, the Eon Ticket was originally one of the earliest pieces of add-on content in the Pokémon franchise. The only way to get the item in the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Game Boy Advance titles was by obtaining a card for Nintendo’s short-lived e-Reader! Once the card was scanned, players could visit Southern Island just like in the current distribution event. Technology has come a long way in the last ten years!
The Eon Ticket can be acquired via download code by visiting Pokémon.com between February 27 and March 2.
