Teased about a million years ago as coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, Rare’s Donkey Kong 64 is finally making its way to Nintendo’s subscription service. Rather than regale you with quoted bits from the infamous DK Rap, let’s cut straight to the chase and give you what you’re looking for: a glimpse at Donkey Kong 64 in smooth motion. Here goes the trailer:
For the uninitiated, Donkey Kong 64 is the result of Rare at the height of its collectathon powers. There’s plenty to accumulate, plenty to see, and indeed plenty of characters to do all that accumulating and sightseeing with… for better and worse. A distinct departure from the developer’s SNES Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Donkey Kong 64 is nonetheless an enjoyable romp with DK in the third dimension, a vantage point that the character wouldn’t return to properly until Donkey Kong Bananza from last year.
The game will be available for download starting June 4, 2026. As ever, those interested in playing will need to have active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriptions. Ironically, the Expansion Pack was needed in order to play Donkey Kong 64 back in the day, but we digress. Will you be giving this a play? Let us know below and on social media!
