For years, gamers have been hotly anticipating the long overdue sequel to Beyond Good & Evil. Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in development for a long time, and we’ve known about it since 2008. So why is it taking so long? It’s still in development, but Michel Ancel just hasn’t got the time for it right now.
Ubisoft Yves Guillemot spoke with Polygon and revealed that while Ubisoft still wants to work on and release Beyond Good & Evil 2, creator Michel Ancel has been too busy with Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.
“So the fact is, that working on Legends is slowing the process on Beyond Good and Evil 2,” said Guillemot. “It’s really a game that we’ve been working, we have worked on, and is a game that we want to do. But there are so many things that have to be done that, you know, this one is going to come in line at one point, but at the moment Michel is really on Rayman Legends.”
Little has been officially revealed about Beyond Good & Evil 2 since its unveiling. All we have are a couple trailers. There’s still no official word as to what console the game will be on either. Given the fact that the original game was on Gamecube, and Ubisoft’s backing of Wii U, I’m guessing we may just see a release of the game on the system. In any case, Beyond Good & Evil 2 will not be coming out for a couple years at least.
how long has it been in development? i hope it doesnt turn out like Too Human
I’m just happy to know BG&E2 hasn’t been cancelled! I trust Ubi and Ancel enough that I think a Duke Nukem Forever or Too Human situation is pretty unlikely.
