Possibly good news for European fans of both Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright came today in the form of a unconfirmed release schedule that allegedly made its way onto the internet from a Paper Mario: Sticker Star press event in Spain. The pair’s highly anticipated crossover title for 3DS appeared on a European 2013 release schedule said to have been shown at the event, giving the first indication that Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will see a release outside of Japan.
For European fans of pointing, this news could very much make their year.
Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney features both the detective and lawyer from Level-5 and Capcom’s respective franchises up against each other in the case of a young girl accused of witchcraft. While the title was originally announced over two years ago, the game has yet to be confirmed for release outside of Japan and won’t hit shelves in the Land of the Rising Sun until the end of this month. Meanwhile, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, the latest entry into the Professor Layton franchise to reach Western shores, came out last to strong reviews. Among other games that featured on the unconfirmed release schedule were another intriguing Level-5 title called Time Travelers, which has also failed to be confirmed for worldwide release, and stylized Guardian Heroes-esque brawler Code of Princess, an enjoyable romp that has launched in America but failed to secure a place on European release schedules up until this point.
As for how this news may affect Northern American gamers remains to be seen but if this rumor turns out to be true then potential confirmation of the international release of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney can only be encouraging for American fans of Hershel and Phoenix’s deductory antics!
