Last spring, Activision and developer Beenox treated Wii U owners to an enhanced port of The Amazing Spider-Man, which we reviewed here at Nintendojo. Unfortunately, the title came a little late, nearly a year after it’s release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox360. This May, Nintendo gamers will get a chance to swing with Spidey at the same time as everyone else when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 releases on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. With the release date quickly approaching, Activision has released a new trailer, showcasing some of Spidey’s new moves and some of the game’s new villains, including Electro, Spider-Man’s main antagonist in the new film.

Interestingly, the trailer seems to indicate that Spider-Man’s continued hunt for Uncle Ben’s killer will be a central theme in the game, drawing Kraven the Hunter into the storyline. It looks like the character will start as an asset to Spider-Man, before taking on a more villainous role. Activision’s previous Spider-Man movie titles have always added extra villains and characters, but it’s interesting to see this one play into such a central plot thread to the films.

Are you thinking about checking out The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when it debuts on Wii U and 3DS this spring? Let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments below!

    Toadlord says...

I have a history with Spider-Man games dating back to the SNES. The two Activision Playstation titles were a blast. Being young at the time, I usually played in “Kid Mode”. These titles were also the first games that I found out cheat codes existed in. I rocked Big Head Spidey all day long.

Spider-Man 2 on the Gamecube was the last chance I had to go web swinging. I’ve been iffy on anything to come out since then, but I think I’ll support this game. It seems to improve on a lot of the mechanics of the last game, and any third party support on Wii U is appreciated nowadays.
