According to a liveblog of Nintendo’s financial results meeting from earlier today, the company may be looking for further development partners with whom to share its roster of iconic characters.

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s CEO, reiterated that Nintendo properties will not be making their way to competing hardware or to mobile devices, but that the company would license the rights to its characters for the development of games exclusive to Nintendo platforms. This strategy, which we can already see being applied in the recently announced Hyrule Warriors as well as the Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem crossover, may be a brilliant way for the company to ensure a steady stream of titles to its platforms with the added draw of characters its hardcore fans already know and love.
