8. Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (Wii U)

Current Release Date: Q4 2013

Developer Dakko Dakko Limited went all out with its eShop title, Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails, and decided to mash a top-down shooter with a platformer to craft one hell of a game. Your movement is solely tied to the game’s walls, effectively leaving you on rails, and you can jump from wall to wall while shooting at enemies to progress through each level. The trailer portrays Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails as a hectic, arcade-like experience that looks great visually through its 2D sprites and 3D environments.

Oh, and I forgot to mention how crazy the story is! Lab rats take over a space station from a council of scientists and plan on taking over the world, so they start kidnapping cats because they are their biggest threat. Your cat, Scram Kitty, is one of the kidnapped cats, and it’s up to you to save him along with each and every cat! It’s an outlandish plot line that surprisingly hooked me into its bizarre world, and I can’t wait to see it unfold.
