9. Treasurenauts (3DS)

Current Release Date: December 2013
Renegade Kid has been proven to develop exceptional video games, as the studio gained quite the reputation when it released Mutant Mudds on the eShop. The game was a terrific ode to old game consoles, sporting a retro graphical style and tight platforming gameplay. Now, it seems that Renegade Kid plans on following this trend with the impending release of Treasurenauts, which features a similar art style to that of its predecessor. However, the gameplay is now focused on exploring big labyrinths and finding as much treasure as possible by surveying the area and killing various monsters. You can equip yourself with either a gun, swords, or an assortment of bombs, while unlocking power-ups for your character along the way.
Perhaps the biggest thing that I am excited about is the game’s inclusion of a two-player co-op mode, which can be played through either Local Play or Download Play. I feel like Treasurenauts is very well-suited for something like this, especially considering that each player will have their own respective screen to look at. Rushing around to collect more treasure than my friends while taking on monsters together looks like tons of fun!
Two Brothers: the way I’m seeing it, kinda carries a Nintendo Game-Boy look while adding some color, clearly taking a page out of Frank Miller’s playbook
