While Splatoon launches tomorrow in the US and Europe, there will be a number of gamers who won’t get to dive into Nintendo’s newest multiplayer shooter quite yet.

The UK’s largest game retailer, GAME, has had its Splatoon shipment stolen during transit from Nintendo’s European distribution centre to its own warehouse, along with the truck carrying them. GAME has stated that the truck contained its entire stock of special edition versions of the game (which includes the base game and the Squid Inkling Amiibo). As a result, the retailer will be unable to fulfill any pre-orders of that edition of the game.

In an email sent to customers, GAME offered a discount on a standard edition and Amiibo bundle, but, unfortunately, the game itself won’t be sent out until the Friday, May 29. This will mean a slight delay for anyone who pre-ordered this edition from the retailer.

The theft may well have  been a random act, but given the immense popularity of Amiibo, there’s every chance that whoever targeted the truck knew what they were after. Stealing an entire trucks worth of the stuff is going a step too far though to complete your collection!

If you’ve yet to get your hands on Splatoon, be sure to check out why the game is an important one for Nintendo here.
