E3 may only be a few weeks away, but that didn’t stop Nintendo from revealing a few interesting surprises during today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast for Japan, one of which being a new Chibi-Robo game for 3DS.
Dubbed Guru-guru! Chibi-Robo!, the game is a marked departure from previous Chibi-Robo titles. Where earlier games focused primarily on assisting characters by doing household chores, Chibi’s latest adventure is an action platformer. Players will need to guide Chibi-Robo through a number of sidescrolling stages, using the tiny robot’s plug as a makeshift grappling hook to swing across chasms and solve puzzles. You can watch some brief footage of the game in the embedded trailer.
Guru-guru! Chibi-Robo! will also be compatible with a Chibi-Robo Amiibo, which allows you to level up within the game. It also happens to be adorable, as you can see from the picture below.
Both Guru-guru! Chibi-Robo! and its accompanying Amiibo will launch in Japan later this fall. Nintendo hasn’t announced whether or not it will be bringing the game to other regions as well, but with E3 right around the corner, we likely won’t have to wait long for an answer.

I have always been interested in this series, but never took the plunge. That Amiibo will make it really tempting to jump in. It’s so dang cute.
I will seek out that amiibo if it comes west. Diligently.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Seeing your post on the homepage stretching beyond its proper limits amused me greatly. Thanks for the laugh.
