Beleaguered Ubisoft continues to try and right the ship, this time slashing 185 jobs in its latest “readjusting” effort, with the hope of cutting costs and prioritizing projects. This includes the shuttering of nearly the entire Ubisoft Leamington studio in the UK. Leamington was responsible for the much-maligned Star Wars Outlaws, which saw low sales upon release. The game’s lack of performance hurt Ubisoft at a time when it couldn’t afford the setback.
Ubisoft was recently in the news for allegedly prepping multiple assets to be repositioned to form a new venture. Despite all this, is nonetheless excited about the prospect of Nintendo Switch 2, alleging to have more than half a dozen games being prepped for the upcoming console. But with this latest wave of bad news, one can’t help but wonder where Ubisoft will be as a company in the next year.
