SEGA made a bunch of announcements yesterday in honor of Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th birthday. Among them was word that two substantial collections are on the way as part of the freshly revealed Sonic 35th Anniversary Project: one focuses on the modern version of the character and the other on the classic. Let’s go through both:
Classic Sonic Collection
As the name asserts, this one is all about Classic Sonic. The games included are:
- Sonic Origins
- Sonic Mania
- Sonic Superstars
The physical edition of Classic Sonic Collection will also include special 35th Anniversary reversible cover art and logo patch. The game launches October 2026 for $49.99.
Modern Sonic Collection
And Modern Sonic Collection is, you guessed it, a spotlight on Modern Sonic. The three games included in this compilation are:
- Sonic Frontiers
- Sonic Colors: Ultimate
- Sonic Frontiers
Just like the other compilation, Modern Sonic Collection’s physical edition will include 35th Anniversary reversible cover art and a logo patch. Alas, there is no firm release date, but both collections will be releasing for Nintendo Switch (and are playable on Switch 2) in October of this year at some point. Once we have an actual launch date, we’ll pass it along to all of you.
