Developer/publisher Aspyr has announced they’ll be bringing the N64 title, Star Wars Episode I: Racer to Nintendo Switch May 12.
Based on the podracing scene from the tragedy that is The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Episode I: Racer takes you through various locations throughout the galaxy, including flaming methane lakes and anti-gravity tunnels. There will be 25 playable characters, including Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba, and Ratts Tyerell, and tracks spanning eight worlds including Tatooine, Baroonda, and Malastare.
Pit droids can upgrade your podracer for higher speeds and top acceleration, and the game will feature both single player and multiplayer split-screen modes. Additionally, Aspyr Vice President of Publishing, Elizabeth Howard, had the following to say about the upcoming release of the game:
“Star Wars fans can soon go full throttle with Aspyr’s update to the classic, fan-favorite, Star Wars Episode l: Racer. The beloved game has been modernized for the most optimal gaming experience on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Star Wars fans should get ready to steer their racer to victory and leave their opponents in the dust.”
The game will be $14.99 when it becomes available next month.
