One of the more surprising announcements of the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct from earlier this week was the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade coming to the console. Naoki Hamaguchi, Director at Square Enix, appeared briefly during the Direct to make the announcement. The trailer showed familiar opening and early-game scenes of Cloud and Barret fighting their way through the bombing mission in Sector 1.
The Intergrade version of Final Fantasy VII Remake is a visual upgrade of the original PS4 version of Reake and includes the INTERmission DLC. INTERmission is a standalone story starring Yuffie and takes place in tandem with the events of Remake. It follows Yuffie as she infiltrates Midgar and conspires with Avalanche HQ to steal the ultimate materia from Shinra. While the story isn’t long — about 4-7 hours to beat the main story and about 15 hours to complete everything there is to do — it does provide some significant backstory for Yuffie and allows players to get familiar with her unique combat style.

We’re very much looking forward to the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Switch 2, and are happy to see Square Enix and Nintendo continuing their longstanding partnership onto Nintendo’s new console. As soon as we hear more info about the remake project on Switch 2, we’ll be sure to let you know.
