While this could well be Wii’s last E3 (a tongue twister if we ever saw one) the console does appear to have a few last (dying) breaths within it. Even though no new games were actually announced during the conference, a Nintendo press email detailing all the games that will be available at their E3 booth has revealed nearly ten games that will be heading to the system before Wii U succeeds it.
The Legend of Zelda: Skywars Sword is the lone title for Wii that actually featured in the conference, albeit only in a wider Zelda montage. The game was confirmed to be releasing this year as part of the Zelda series’s 25th anniversary. Check out our coverage here.
Other titles announced or listed to appear at the show included Wii Play: Motion, Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident, Fortune Street and a Wii version of Rhythm Heaven.
Apart from Zelda, two new major franchise titles were also revealed: Kirby Wii and Mario Party 9. Details are obviously thin on the ground about these games but an educated guess could suggest that the Kirby title could be the conentional Kirby platformer we’ve long been anticipating, even since the day of the GameCube. Mario Party 9 marks a return to the long running minigame franchise that recently saw a Mushroom Kingdom departure with last year’s Wii Party. Can Mario et al show those Miis who’s boss?
