Is GameStop Scamming Xenoblade Chronicles Fans?

Ridiculous pricing suggests that this may be the case.

$90 for a used game?! Are you daft?!

The much anticipated Xenoblade Chronicles, which came out in North America in April 2012, had become fairly successful in its own right. However, there seemed to be only a limited number of copies of the game printed, so clamoring for it is at an all time high. Copies are getting harder and harder to find, and on eBay, used ones are going for as high as $50. While most of this is simple supply and demand, there are some folks who are taking it way out of hand. Like GameStop, which has recently restocked its supply of used Xenoblade copies.

However, the price is leaving some fans crying foul. It looks as if GameStop is pricing used copies of Xenoblade Chronicles as high as $89.99. This isn’t a brand new copy. This is a copy that was opened and most likely played before. (And you thought EarthBound costing a couple dollars more was terrible.) What’s more, this wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the fact that GameStop seems to have a monopoly on the copies that are available.

This story is still developing, however, so it’s still up in the air to see what kind of resolution will be made. But stay tuned, and be sure to save your money unless you really need the game.

As high as 50?? It’s currently going in some auctions for over 100. I’ve never seen it actually sell for 50 or less. Xenoblade typically fetches at least 75 bucks on eBay. But you’re right, it is supply and demand. I certainly don’t think GS stands to make as much money as a lot of people will refuse to pay that at a store. We’ll see how long they keep it at 90 bucks.
