I think I speak for everyone at this site when I say that we were all pretty bummed out by the fact that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night wasn’t coming to Wii U. With the amount of spiritual successors on the rise as of late, it was a shame to see that we wouldn’t be able to play a new Castlevania-styled game on a Nintendo console. However, Wii U support for Bloodstained may be in the cards as a new stretch goal.
Recently, Bloodstained surpassed $2.5 million and earned the Classic Mode stretch goal, which uses the linear level design that we’re familiar with from the original Castlevania on NES. This also opened up the next stretch goal for developing a larger castle for the game’s main mode, but what’s interesting is the area that is directly underneath that stretch goal.
Can you see anything? It’s a bit hard to make out, but if you apply brightness to the image like some creative backers did on Kickstarter, you can see what looks to be the top half of the Wii U logo! Take a look:
It’s hard to be doubtful about a Wii U release after seeing that, but if you still are, creative lead Koji Igarashi strongly hinted at the possibility of this happening in the FAQ of the game’s Kickstarter page:
Our budget left us with two options: Build the biggest, most beautiful game we can, or make sure it runs everywhere from the start. As things stand today, we can’t afford to create the two separate versions of this game that would be necessary to make it run on every console. That said, we’ve heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement…
You can see in the first image that the previously reached stretch goals are located inside of the castle while the newest stretch goals that have yet to be reached remain underground. Maybe the “remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement” that Igarashi hinted about is one of the newer, buried stretch goals, further supporting the theory that Bloodstained is coming to Wii U!
