What’s that? Another rumor about the successor to Nintendo Switch? It’s going to be a wild ride between now and the console’s official reveal to the world, and in the meanwhile fans will continue to hear all sorts of scuttlebutt about it. The latest is that the name for the system has been pegged down, and it’s… well, not terribly exciting. Nintendo Switch 2 is what the console will be called. Ta-da!
What’s more, it’s expected to ship with black and white Joy-Con and will have the number two printed somewhere on its side. The leaker also alleges that Switch 2 is already being mass produced in preparation for its eventual launch. But when might that launch be? We’ll find out sometime between now and March 2025, which is when Nintendo’s current fiscal year ends—that’s the cutoff the company gave for when it would announce Switch’s successor. Some are speculating that the announcement might even happen this month, but that remains a rumor.
