Hideki Kamiya, the occasionally controversial co-founder of PlatinumGames and director of Ōkami left the studio back in 2023. It seems that the creator isn’t alone in his departure from Platinum if the rumors are true. According to a thread on Reddit, four instrumental devs from the studio have departed:

  • Kenji Saito | Metal Gear Rising
  • Takahisa Taura | Astral Chain/NieR: Automata
  • Masaki Yamanaka | The Wonderful 101
  • Abebe Tinari | Bayonetta Origins

While all four haven’t made their departures official, the quartet have removed mention of PlatinumGames from their respective social media bios. The timing is certainly curious as Kamiya is not only working on the sequel to Ōkami, but he’s doing it under the auspices of his new studio (aptly named) Clovers. Might these four have made their way to Kamiya’s side once more? As we learn more, we’ll share it with you all, so keep your eyes glued to Nintendojo for more.
