The Pokémon Company has made a name for itself over the years not just based upon the excellent video games it makes, but also the high quality card game, merchandise, and anime all based around its beloved Pocket Monsters, as well. In a surprise to everyone, The Pokémon Company has unveiled what appears to be a new initiative that it has dubbed PokéToon! The short animation is in the spirit of the Fleischer-style of cartoons of yore with a healthy sprinkling of Warner Bros.’ own Looney Tunes. You can watch it in full below:
The video is posted to the Japanese Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel, but there’s no dialogue to speak of in the short, so don’t feel intimidated that there might be a language barrier (kudos if you’re fortunate enough to speak Japanese, though). The plot sees a Mimikyu and Scraggy interacting on a train and it is pure, hilarious pandemonium throughout. What a delightful departure for the brand, one that we certainly hope continues for a long time. What did you think of it? Share in the comments and on social media!
