In his seemingly never-ending stream of new game info, Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed the 3DS version of the upcoming brawler will feature levels based the Paper Mario series of RPGs. The announcement also came with the following screenshots.
As you can probably tell, the stage will be rather dynamic. Sakurai explained that his team are taking advantage of the paper-craft nature of the game to have the stages fold and transform into different environments from the various entries in the series. Fans of the games might recognize the first as being inspired by Sticker Star, while the latter comes from The Thousand-Year Door. We will have to wait and see what other entries might be represented.
Seeing how Sakurai is such a fan of releasing more and more information, be sure to be on the lookout for more announcements leading up the the 3DS release in October and the Wii U release sometime later in the year.

They look lovely, so I’m sure I’ll have fun with them. And this is despite my distaste for Sticker Star as a game.
