Now then, after taking a look at the above list, what is your personal pick for release of the week? Take your time if you must, though you and I both know it is Reel Fishing Paradise 3D. One glance at the name should instantly make you discount any other release as a worthy challenger. Using the fishing analogy ‘reel’ in place of of ‘real,’ developer Natsume knew they had quite a ‘catch’ on their hands, and would have you and me ‘hooked.’ Trying to not buy this game would be like swimming against the current and I for one have certainly taken the bait. I’m reely excited for this and you should be too. If the developers came up with such an amazing title like that, can you imagine what the game is like!? (Head explodes.)
In all seriousness though, the true standout title here is Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D . This game will probably be high up your wanted list if you are lucky enough to own Nintendo’s 3D handheld. You want a depth of field to your most terrifying nightmares? You got it! Would you like the next best thing to Zombies crawling out of the screen and lobotomizing you? Hey, no problem! Capcom is more than happy to cater for your every whim. Mercenaries, is its own game away from the story of the main Resident Evil titles and by all accounts is shaping up very nicely. Online co-op is in there, as is the sense of dread and panic that comes with good old RE. One to look out for sure when it lands on June 28th.
Wii has three, that’s right three, games out in the coming week (yes, two are the same IP) but we will take anything right now (looks at video trailers for Mystery Case); OK, take them back. Maybe I’m being a little harsh here, but these point and click adventures don’t really ‘reel me in’ and the trailer (which, by the way, is a cure for insomnia) doesn’t really change my mind. Nintendo is having a hard time trying to keep momentum with the Wii as of late. 3DS has rightly come to the fore, but to give us next to nothing, month upon month, is a pretty dire situation for Wii owners to deal with.
On a brighter note, Pro Jumper! Chimaki’s Hot Spring Tour Guilty Gear Tangent on DSiWare actually looks like it could be a fun little game. This time I’m not being sarcastic; the platforming looks to be solid on the video trailer and could represent a reasonable purchase if it plays as fluid as it looks. There is a chance that the pitched up Japanese voice-over was subliminally brainwashing me into liking the game, but my stance remains, it looks fun.
Keep it reel y’all!
I’d reel in Chimaki any day. Look at his little dictator mustache! I’m sure it’ll make quite a splash.
It’s like Hitler in the locker room!
But seriously, he does look adorable in an awkward, creepy sorta way. Really makes me want to check it out.
