Nintendo Direct: Samus Gets Psychic Powers in New Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Trailer

Although fans had already gotten a glimpse of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond back in June of last year, they finally got a better sense of what the game will be about during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct broadcast. In the latest trailer, Samus is shown traversing the planet Viewros, a new location in the Metroid series. Take a look, below:

Samus’s trip to Viewros is an unexpected one, leaving the bounty hunter scouring the planet trying to figure out why she’s been sent there. During the course of her travels she gains new Psychic Abilities, special gifts that give Samus control over the trajectory of her beams, and even the power to do things like open doors and control mechanisms. Metroid Prime 4 will revolve around the mystery of why Samus is on Viewros and why she’s been given these powers.

There’s still no firm release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but Nintendo has once again confirmed it will be launching later this year for Nintendo Switch.
