Following Saturday’s big Pokémon X and Y news, Nintendo has officially announced the names of the four new Pokémon revealed in the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine, as well as provided some new details on the games’ setting.

For those who may have missed the initial announcement, the four newest additions to the Pokédex are:

  • The Grass-type ram Gogoat, which players will be able to ride on at certain points in the game.
  • The Japanese robin Fletchling. Despite its small size, Fletchling can learn some impressive attacks such as Flame Wheel.
  • The Electric/Normal-type lizard Helioptile. Helioptile can learn a new attack called Parabolic Charge, which heals the user by half of the damage done to your opponent.
  • And the Fighting-type panda Pancham. According to its Pokédex entry, Pancham tries to intimidate other Pokémon with its mean glare. Pancham can also learn a new attack– Parting Shot, which lowers the opponent’s Attack and Special Attack stats before switching the user out.

Nintendo has also confirmed that Pokémon X and Y will be set in the brand new Kalos region, a continent in the shape of a star. The sprawling, Parisian city located at the heart of the region will be called Lumiose City in the English versions of the games.

As reported in CoroCoro, Pokémon X and Y will also introduce customizable avatars. Both male and female trainers will have three preset hair and skin combinations to choose from. In addition to that, Nintendo has confirmed that players will be able to further customize their heroes with new outfits and accessories, which they will acquire during the course of the game.

Last, but certainly not least, the company has released a new gameplay trailer for X and Y, highlighting the four new Pokémon in battle, and giving fans a closer look at the sights and sounds Lumiose City.
