Earlier this year, Nintendo released four new StreetPass games, which could be purchased from the StreetPass Plaza for $5 USD apiece (or as a bundle for a discounted $15). It turns out these little titles have proven to be quite a success the company, as they’ve made a nice profit in a fairly short amount of time.
In an interview with Tokyo Keizai Online, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that the four new StreetPass games have collectively generated about $4 million in their first month of sale. Couple that with the news that the titles have been downloaded by over 200,000 3DS owners since their release, which Iwata revealed during last month’s investors briefing, and it looks like paid StreetPass games have been a successful experiment for the company, possibly paving the way for even more such games down the line.
Have you purchased any of the new StreetPass titles? Would you be interested in downloading any more paid StreetPass games in the future? Share your thoughts in the comments!
