The oft remarked upon Mercedes DLC for Mario Kart 8 is finally heading our way. The pack will come with three karts modeled off of the Mercedes GLA, W25 Silver Arrow, and 300 SL Roadster. The vehicles also come with special wheel options, though it’s unclear if they will be interchangeable with the other karts already available in the game. The DLC pack is free, and along with that good news is confirmation that Mario Kart 8 will be receiving its first sizable update.
A bevy of new features will finally be hitting the game with the update, including the ability to display the course map onscreen while racing, a scoreboard feature that shows individual characters’ online win/loss records (amongst other stats), the ability to edit video clips of other racers for Mario Kart TV, kart customization combos can be remembered, improvements to online stability, and– my personal favorite– the ability to default “Next Race” as being the top choice on the menu screen. The karts and features drop August 27.
Lots of changes coming. What are your thoughts on Mario Kart 8 thus far? Interested in the new rides and features? Let us know!

I’m still waiting with credit card in hand for a proper battle mode. The other changes are nice though.
These sound like very nice little touches. And I’m with Robert – “Next Race” is the best one, hands down. :^)
I’m surprised how fun the replay stuff is, so seeing that get expanded is cool.
I figured Nintendo wouldn’t make changes like these to an already-released game, so I suppose there’s hope yet for some proper battle maps and/or a two-player mode with separate gamepad and TV displays.
