Back in April, fans noticed that a listing for Hollow Knight: Silksong’s ESRB rating had been posted. Many took this as a sign that the game, which has been in development since 2018, was finally nearing launch. It’s a release that has become rather legendary (or infamous, depending on your viewpoint), as Team Cherry has been building up to it for so long, and it has at least seemed like Silksong was inching towards launch at numerous different points. Thankfully, there’s no longer a need to wonder when Silksong will come out, as now, finally, during Gamescom it was announced: September 4, 2025.
Lest ye have forgotten, here’s what Silksong is all about:
Play as Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, and adventure through a whole new kingdom ruled by silk and song! Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is the epic sequel to Hollow Knight, the award winning action-adventure. As the lethal hunter Hornet, journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover ancient secrets tied to your nature and your past.
Silksong is so anticipated because the original Hollow Knight is one of the most beloved Metroidvanias ever made. So, no pressure or anything, but Silksong is going to release to a ravenous fanbase and will be highly scrutinized, as a result. Will the game live up to its lofty expectations? Tell us what you think in the comments and on social media!
