If there’s been a common point of contention among many Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, it has been the relative dearth of software made available since September of last year. It was then that Nintendo announced it would no longer provide monthly game updates to the service, something that rankled many fans. The situation remains unchanged, but there’s some solace to be taken in knowing that there are four more games coming to Nintendo Switch Online next week:
Four more titles will be added to the #NES & #SNES – #NintendoSwitchOnline collection on 5/20, bringing the total to over 80 classic games!

On May 20 the following four titles will be added to the service’s game catalogue:
Super NES
- Operation Logic Bomb
- Panel de Pon
- Wild Guns
NES
- Rygar
Panel de Pon is an especially interesting inclusion. It was never officially been released in the west, but was instead remade as Tetris Attack and based thematically on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island. It’s further intriguing to see Wild Guns be made available here, particularly considering its very solid remake is already out on Switch. That all said, four more games are still much appreciated, especially with so many people still sheltering in place.

Many many years ago (and for a few years in a row), whenever Nintendojo would do an “E3 Predictions” feature, or maybe some “Nintendo Direct Predictions” features (can’t remember specifically), I used to always (half jokingly) comment that Nintendo was going to finally announce Rygar being available on their Virtual Console service.
It only seems appropriate that I should come back here in 2020 to say:
“RYGAR!!!!!!!” Better late than never!!!!
Now I can finally enjoy Rygar without blowing in the ol’ cartridge (or a rom). And with a rewind feature to boot. Good times.
I just wish it was something I could buy versus rent, but better than nothing!
