Neverending nightmare.

Denis Dyack, the video game designer known for games like Eternal Darkness, has announced his new company Quantum Entanglement Entertainment Inc., or “QE2.” The company won’t be making just video games, but will also expand into movies and television programming. Dyack believes that the future is in the merging of these three entertainment platforms:

“A lot of the television that you’re seeing is really bleeding into a lot of the things that we do in video games…A lot of the things that you see in film are bleeding into a lot of the things that we do in video games.”

The first project of the newly formed team is to resurrect Shadow of the Eternals, a spiritual successor to the GameCube cult classic, Eternal Darkness. After numerous failed attempts at crowdfunding the title, it seemed like Shadow of the Eternals was just never going to happen. But, according to Dyack, the title is in active production and won’t be just a videogame, possibly transforming into a multimedia franchise.

Do you think Shadow of the Eternals will finally see the light of day with Denis Dyack forming a new company? Tell us in the comments.

Despite all the [somewhat mystifying] animosity directed at Denis Dyack, I’m really happy to see this news. Eternal Darkness is a phenomenal game, and I’d love to see another game (or two or three) in the same style/universe. Hope it works out this time.

I will believe this game exists when I’m playing it. And I’ll totally play it, because I think Eternal Darkness is a masterpiece. But this project has really struggled to get off the ground. Sure hope it comes together.
