When Dementium: The Ward first appeared on Nintendo DS, critical reception was a bit mixed. On one hand, the first-person survival horror title offered a visually impressive experience that gave the system a game that could actually be considered scary, a rare thing for the handheld format. Unfortunately, its short length and irritating enemy respawns resulted in frustration for a number of players. Next year, developer Renegade Kid will get an opportunity to rectify those mistakes when the title returns on the 3DS eShop!
Renegade Kid seems well aware of those early criticisms, and it sounds like fans should expect to see a much stronger experience this time around. According to the developer, the new version of the game will support 3D visuals, 60fps, and a removal of respawning enemies and check points that many fans previously found unfair. If the title is successful, it might even lead to the game’s sequel appearing on the eShop, as well.

I won’t be, mainly because I already have them on DS. Dementium 1 was short, and monochromatic with levels and enemies that were redundantly overused. At the time I was willing to take what I could get. The second one was much better with much more variety in enemies and environments; personally, I’m still waiting for Ep. 2 of Moon Chronicles.
I’ll definitely be grabbing this, but I’m more excited about the rest of Moon Chronicles and its possible sequel. Renegade Kid sure has a lot going on for such a small studio.
Speaking of first-person games on the 3DS, and games I missed on their initial release, what ever happened to Conduit?
