Publisher Thunderful has announced that they’re bringing developer Maschinen-Mensch’s Curious Expedition games to Switch, starting later this year.
In Curious Expedition, a roguelike expedition sim set in the late 19th century, players will traverse mysterious, unexplored corners of the earth and discover hidden treasures that could bring the fame and notoriety of being the most recognized explorer of the era. The procedural story makes every playthrough unique, and players can choose from different difficulty levels.
“People have been asking for a console release of Curious Expedition for a long time now. We’re extremely happy to partner with Thunderful to make this happen, so that we can bring the game to a new audience while also giving the opportunity to existing fans to experience the game on new platforms,” say Riad Djemili and Johannes Kristmann, founders of Maschinen-Mensch.
Curious Expedition 2 is planned for Steam Early Access later in 2019, with more information on console release dates coming at a later time. That game will feature a new, HD graphic novel art style and deeper travel and combat mechanics than the first game. The developer is also claiming it will usher in “the next era of procedural generation” which will provide endless unique stories and characters. Players will also be able to compete against one another for the first time with multiplayer features.
Look out for Curious Expedition on Switch and other consoles later this year. Will you be adding one or both of these games to your Switch library?
