Crytek, the makers of the beloved Crysis series, has laid off 15 percent of its workforce. That’s approximately 60 workers gone from the company. The news was shared via a statement on Crytek’s official X account, which you can read in full right here:

Along with the layoffs, Crytek also revealed that Crysis 4 is now on hold as a result. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the new focus for the studio, but it sounds like things are bleak for Crytek as it “cannot continue as before and remain financially sustainable.” Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a first-person competitive shooter launched back in 2018. Hopefully its success can lead Crytek back to greener pastures, but in the meanwhile things are looking tough for the German developer.
