Contra: Operation Galuga is out today on Nintendo Switch. Developed by WayForward, Operation Galuga is a remake of the original Contra on NES. As a multiplatform release, that can sometimes spell trouble for the Switch version, and in this case Operation Galuga does indeed seem to be a tad worse off on Nintendo’s hardware. The game runs noticeably rougher on Switch than other platforms.
All hope might not be lost, however, as Konami and WayForward are promising a “full-version patch update” for Operation Galuga. Here’s the announcement that was made on the Contra Official X account:

The patch alleges it will bring “bug fixes, input optimization, and visibility improvements,” but alas, all of this will be coming to the Distinguished Competition before Nintendo Switch. “We will apply the update as soon as preparations have completed. We will notify once again when the update is ready,” said the developers. Whether or not this update will fix the myriad issues plaguing the Switch version of Operation Galuga remains to be seen, but we’ll let you all know as we learn more.
