The Game Awards has become a destination for those interested in seeing high-profile game announcements, particularly from companies like Nintendo. While there wasn’t as much from Nintendo this year in terms of reveals, one especially big tidbit was word that Square Enix will be bringing Bravely Default II to Switch. Peep the trailer:
Bravely Default II will be a Nintendo-exclusive and is expected to drop in 2020. The trailer doesn’t reveal much but does at least provide a glimpse at the art direction, which is much in line with previous Bravely Default entries. The title is being developed by the same team that worked on the series prior, as well as Octopath Traveler.
Some may be wondering where this places the previous sequel Bravely Second: End Layer in terms of significance. Was it a true sequel or is it now considered a spin-off of some kind? It’s hard to say, but this is undoubtedly a… quirky case of numbering. Regardless, RPG fans should be pumped for this news. What say ye? Sound off in the comments and on social media!
