UPDATE 06.27.20

We officially have a release date for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2: July 10! What’s more, the game will apparently have a local co-op mode, a series first. Give the second trailer a look:

Original story below.

ORIGINAL STORY 06.24.20

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 was debuted at this year’s New Game+ Expo. Developed by Inti Creates with IGA (Koji Igarashi), the sequel to the 2018 original is said to be coming “soon.” While we wait anxiously for a proper release date, take a look at the trailer:

Here’s what to expect from Curse of the Moon 2:

“Come wield your swords and whips once more, because classic-style 2D Bloodstained action is back with Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2! The saga continues in this direct sequel to the original Curse of the Moon game with a brand-new immersive story directed by IGA consisting of multiple scenarios and outcomes. With a new cast of playable characters like Dominique, Bloodstained fans and newcomers alike have a lot to look forward to!

Nostagic yet fresh asethetic: A classic-style 2D action platforomer with a very aesthetically-pleasing 8-bit setting that feels both nostalgic and brand new at the same time.
Brand new playable characters: Three new playable characters from the Bloodstained universe including Dominique make their debut! New playable characters are acquired as you progress through the game, expanding the breadth of gameplay and stage traversing strategies for players.”

The original was an exceptionally fun platformer that perfectly encapsulated the fun and feel of Castlevania on NES while also establishing its own identity as a game. This sequel is looking like it’s shaping up to be every bit as great, if not more so. Be sure to keep it tuned to Nintendojo for the official release date of Curse of the Moon 2 and in the meanwhile tell us what you all think down below and on social media!
