7. Samus Aran and Planetary Destruction

Samus Aran dodging an explosive attack

Let’s be honest Samus is a good catch. She’s intelligent, independent, strong-willed, and she’s pretty hot too — but that doesn’t matter because you rarely see her face anyway. Sure, she goes on dangerous missions and could die at any point, but if you happen to be a potential suitor for Samus, then you are probably an officer in the Galactic Federation anyway, and risk death every day; the only people Samus interacts with are fellow GF officers, and her enemies. She is still single though. In Metroid Fusion, we are made aware of Adam Malkovich, who could potentially be a love interest. In Metroid: Other M, though, we see he’s sort of a father figure, more than anything else.

So who does hold the key to Ms. Aran’s heart? Well, sorry to disappoint any fanboys out there, but nobody does, and nobody probably ever will. Being raised by the Chozo, a race who had evolved to the point where they were unable to reproduce, the Chozo probably never taught Samus about love and sex. She may even be asexual, and not understand the concept of love in the slightest. So how does she get her kicks? Well, being raised by a warrior race and given a battlesuit, and then enlisted in the Army as a bounty hunter can only mean one thing – destruction. Maybe she’s not the great catch she seems. After all, every planet she visits seems to blow up afterwards…
