It’s a big week for Pokémon fans! This Friday, Pokémon: Let’s Go will finally appear on Switch after months of hype from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. However, today will be just as major a day for many fans as the trailer has debuted for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, the upcoming live-action film!

The trailer certainly shows a lot of promise! While Pokémon like Charizard, Bulbasaur and Mr. Mime have a bit more of a realistic sheen to them, they still look quite faithful to the source material. There are also a number of references to the franchise, including regions such as Johto and Sinnoh and a vocal performance by Pikachu’s anime voice actress, Ikue Ōtani. The trailer even boasts a track that should be familiar to long-time Nintendo fans. “Happy Together” by The Turtles appeared in the original North American commercial for Super Smash Bros., which also featured Pikachu! With so many winks and nods for fans, this certainly bodes well for the film!

What did you think of the trailer? Let us know in the comments below!
