This week Nintendo will be going all-in on Mario Kart 8, so the offerings may be scarce, but they are indeed very bountiful in measure. With Mario Kart 8‘s second DLC coming out alongside the new 200cc mode, people should be more than set for the week ahead. Let’s take a look at what we’re getting this time around:

Releases

Wii U eShop

  • Suspension Railroad Simulator – $7.99

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Mario Kart DS – $9.99 – Nintendo’s first foray into polygonal 3D Mario Kart on a handheld device is finally out for the Wii U Virtual Console. Along with Mario Kart 8 and its 3DS predecessor, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart DS offers a similar gameplay style, but adds an additional challenge of unique single-player missions (and being from times of yore and having its various limitations). It’s worth buying either on the eShop or figuring out how to acquire a physical copy.

Wii U DLC

  • Mario Kart 8 – DLC Pack 2 – $7.99 – While the first DLC pack is also available for $7.99, buying both at the same time will save you a few dollars, bringing the price down to $11.99. With the second DLC pack, you gain access to both boy and girl Villagers, Dry Bowser, Isabelle, and a whole new set of eight tracks to race on. Coupled with this is the new 200cc mode which, given its name, will be faster and harder to compete on and brings a tad bit of joy to those who miss the F-Zero series.
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS – Mewtwo – $3.99 – Purchasing the character in both games will save you around three dollars: $4.99 for both versions together. Mewtwo is a long awaited character and the first of seemingly many DLC characters to be released. Nintendo has come a long way from asking gamers to play a game 20 consecutive hours to unlock the legendary monster to simply asking for a few dollars.

3DS eShop/Retail

  • Cube Creator 3D – $4.99 – Some would say imitation is the highest form of flattery while others would say it’s disrespectful. Cube Creator wedges itself in between the two by being a downright homage to Minecraft and dodging none of the accusations. It fills the need to create things in a building, Lego-like atmosphere and also features an ability to share creations via Miiverse. Well worth checking out if Minecraft has been the itch dying to be scratched on your 3DS.
