This week is certainly shaping up to be an exciting one for Nintendo fans. In addition to the long awaited releases of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, the latest addition to the 3DS line of handhelds will be making its debut in North America: the New 3DS XL.
As exciting as a new 3DS launch is, however, this particular iteration comes surrounded by a bit of controversy. While the New 3DS was released in two variations in other territories (you can read Iain’s impressions of the standard New 3DS here), North America will only be receiving the larger New 3DS XL, which lacks the customizable faceplates of its smaller sibling. Did that decision affect your interest in the New 3DS? Will you still be picking up a New 3DS XL this week? Cast your vote in our poll below, and be sure to sound off in the comments!

My purchase is more for the improved 3D; however the nub, and improved processor help make the decision to replace my 3DSXL all the easier.
Better 3D, greater processing power, amiibo support, exclusive line-up… Yeah. Nuf said.
Voting yes, but it will be a while before I get one – probably 6 months to a year. It will happen eventually though.
I held off getting an XL, because I knew something even better would follow. I really want that beautiful big non-glare screen. The C-stick and amiibo support are welcome bonuses. :^)
I won’t be grabbing one right away, just on the off chance I’m able to find a Majora’s Mask edition at some point. I won’t wait past Xenoblade though. Killer app for me.
I’m waiting til Xenoblade as well
Same here Penduin – I knew there was a reason I held off getting the old XL!
I’m gonna make a desperate attempt to snag a Majora’s Mask edition tomorrow morning. If they’re sold out, I’ll hold off. My Zelda XL is barely a year old!
How did you do? I struck out. But, there’s still a chance more will be available in the coming weeks.
Majora’s Mask supports the circle pad pro (which surprised me; I thought they specifically said it wouldn’t?) so I still have the optional, awesome Wind Waker-style camera, even if it’s on a smaller, glare-y, non-eyeball-tracking display. :^)
Hit Target half an hour before they opened and lucked out. I was the second person there, of 6. They had five systems. I felt bad for the guy who got turned away, but I landed myself a Majora 3DS!
