The revelation of a Shovel Night Amiibo proved to be quite the pleasant surprise, and the game’s developers at Yacht Club games aren’t done in sharing their excitement for their continued success.
“We’re the first third-party amiibo being made,” said Sean Velasco, the Captain of Yacht Club. “Nintendo, they do this thing where they go to developers and tell them what’s next, we brought up amiibo, and they gave us a run-down of everything. We never thought we could do a third-party amiibo, but that’s what Nintendo’s plan was.”
Furthermore, Velasco also revealed that Yacht Club would be the ones making the figures. “We’re manufacturing and distributing the thing ourselves, but Nintendo is there with oversight. They’ve helped us out every step of the way. We’ve been working on this deal for a year now, so it’s exciting to be able to tell everyone ‘here it is!'”
When asked about the persistent rumors about Shovel Knight joining the cast of Super Smash Bros. Velasco responded by saying, “No, we don’t have anything to say about that.”
In other words, we still really don’t have a concrete statement that it isn’t going to happen. Saying you don’t have anything to say on the matter isn’t the same as just saying “no.” Hopefully we’ll get a solid answer sooner, rather than later.
