The trio of Game Boy/Game Boy Color-era Zelda titles is now officially on Nintendo Switch. The latest Nintendo Switch Online update has brought Capcom’s glorious The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons to the service. You can see the games in motion in this trailer:
The games are part of what was a proposed trilogy (the third game was ultimately scrapped and evolved into what would become The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap on Game Boy Advance) of interconnected games. The two games that were launched maintained the connective features but have their own distinct stories. Oracle of Ages is considered to be the more cerebral experience, with brain-teasing dungeons to tackle, while Oracle of Seasons leans harder into combat and action. Although The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is arguably the superior Game Boy Zelda game, this duo is still every bit as engaging and worth checking out.
Here’s a bit about the connectivity between games from Nintendo’s press release:
You can play these games on their own and in any order you choose, but completing both will allow you to experience the full saga! By linking the two games through their password system, some characters and enemies will change between the two adventures, items can be upgraded or transported and you can even discover the true evil force moving furtively behind the scenes. It will take a hero for the ages and seasons to truly defeat it!
If you want to play Oracle of Ages and Seasons, simply update the Game Boy app on your Nintendo Switch and have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
