Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is coming to Nintendo Switch at some point in 2024. While fans were excited by the first trailer, and recent hands-on previews are saying very nice things about the upcoming brawler, many likely had the same question tumbling around in the back of their minds: is the Green Ranger in it? Absent from the core lineup and any of the promotional imagery shown off for the game, the Green Ranger is one of the most beloved members of the original team. If Rita’s Rewind is supposed to scratch that classic itch, it wouldn’t be the same without Tommy Oliver, right?
Apparently developer Digital Eclipse agrees, as the studio has just confirmed that the Green Ranger will be in the game, albeit with a small caveat:
We can’t keep the secret any longer: The Green Ranger is an unlockable character in #RitasRewind! Tommy’s origin story is part of our game’s narrative, so once you complete the campaign, you’ll be able to select the Green Ranger. Happy National @PowerRangers Day! pic.twitter.com/qQLfNfH9lg

So yes, Tommy is playable, but you’ll have to make your way through the story in order to unlock him. That’s a little disappointing, but hey, better than no Green Ranger at all. It’s also not unprecedented, as a similar situation played out with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, where hero Casey Jones isn’t available until after beating the game. As for when Rita’s Revenge will actually launch? We’ll keep you posted!
